ANTHROPOLOGY SENSORY PATCH

UCL's very own urban agriculture project, founded in 2012

Run by UCL Urban Farmer's Society, all UCL students and staff are welcome to get involved. We meet at the farm every Saturday from 11am, but you're always welcome to nip over for a visit whenever you fancy weeding or picking some veg.

Three community gardens designed to increase biodiversity

The IOE gardens were created in 2013 by a student-led team, and were designed to encourage birds, bees, bats and butterflies to our campus. The gardens are located on the level 5 terrace of the UCL IOE building, above the Institute Bar.

A flowerbed of edible and medicinal plants

UCL's Anthropology Department have. recently revitalised their growing spaces with edible, medicinal and sensory plants in the flowerbed on 14 Taviton Street and the inner courtyard.

WILD BLOOMSBURY

UCL staff have contributed to the Square's medicinal garden

The Medicinal Herb Spiral and Bed on the North East corner of the garden was set up in 2010. It was made by expert dry stone-wallers with slate from Snowdonia and contains 150 herbs that have historically been used to treat illness, and strengthen constitution.

A UCL staff-led project to educate students on medicinal plants

UCL's school of Pharmacy Library staff have teamed up with the Friends of Brunswick Square (a local community group), to create a Medicinal Garden in Brunswick Square. The library team organise events throughout the year for volunteers to help grow the garden.

UCL's Wild Bloomsbury campaign wants to reintroduce nature into the city

Our goal is to create a vibrant and liveable Bloomsbury by re-introducing nature and increasing the health and well-being of our community. We will identify space for and implement natural interventions such as green walls, brown roofs and pocket gardens across the Bloomsbury area.

SUSTAINABLE UCL

A UCL student run group that tackles food waste on campus

Zero Food Waste is a project that re-distributes food from where it is in excess to where it is scarce: we move hundreds of unsold meals from UCL cafés to homeless shelters. Founded by Diego Garcia-Vega with the help of Camila Montesinos in 2018

A platform for collective action across UCL

The Environmental Collective UCL is a platform for UCL students, staff, societies, project leaders and others to coordinate for collective action, share and promote events, and discuss anything environmental related.

UCL is working towards making our university as sustainable as possible

UCL has launched an ambitious Sustainability Strategy to tackle the climate emergency, the ecological crisis and the pressing social and environmental issues facing our local community.
